“ In my household, Salvadoran food is comfort food. After trying several Salvadoran restaurants in the area over the past few years, El Palmar has become our favorite. The restaurant is always clean and the food is very authentic. It is a comfortable place to have a sit down dinner (conversations don't have to compete with televised futbol games, which is a real plus) and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The quality of the food is very consistent - although each pupusera will prepare her pupusas in her own way; but the ingredients will always be the same! Pupusas revueltas de maiz is a family favorite, but I still prefer a simple frijole y queso de arroz pupusa. Each table will have salsa for your pupusas, but make sure that it is the darker squirt bottle - the hottest! Because the other salsa won't be hot at all. And if you are a guero like me, it might be assumed that you want the mild salsa. The 'curtido' is always excellent - and I highly recommend that you always put it on top of your pupusas! El Palmar serves authentic Salvadoran horchata as well as authentic tamales salvadorenos. All these dishes and drinks taste their best when they are fresh so take some time and enjoy it all on the premises. If you're going to take something home, take a salvadoran quesadilla home with you. There is often a delivery around 4 pm. I highly recommend El Palmar! ”
